More Than 8,000 Kilos of Chicken Eggs Destroyed

PHNOM PENH: More than 8,000 kilos of chicken eggs were destroyed by officers of the Consumer Protection Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate General (CCF) due to non-compliance in food safety regulations.

CCF Deputy Director General Phan Oun made an announcement on November 20, saying that his forces worked in cooperation with local authorities to destroy 8,190 kilograms of chicken eggs after finding that they did not comply with regulations as they did not have the correct quality documents and did not comply with food requirements.

He said that non-compliance is a risk to the health of consumers and that the eggs could have seriously affected public health had they made it to market.

The General Department of CCF asked businesses to properly implement the procedures and compliance with the technical regulations that are in force in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
